Q & A draws headlines, but Seven wins Thursday.

Viewing was down across the board last night, including with staggered schedules on Seven and Nine due to sports this week.

MasterChef proved resilient to it all topping the night at 1.01m viewers (tied for #1 with Nine News 6pm).

ABC’s gay-themed double Between a Frock and a Hard Place (498,000) / Q & A (355,000) attracted social media comment and headlines today regarding Fred Nile’s stance against the rest of the panel. Many commented that social advances were proven by the discussion happening at all, while there was plenty of applause for the way Tom Ballard moderated the event.

Seven Network won Thursday with 30.0% share then Nine 25.5%, TEN 21.6%, ABC 17.9% and SBS 5.0%.

Seven won despite being under 900,000 with Seven News at 894,000 / 883,000 then Home and Away (614,000), Million Dollar Minute (535,000), AFL (509,000 in 2 cities). The Secret Life of Cats was 359,000 in 3 cities and Movie: The Water Diviner was 187,000 in 3 cities.

Nine News (1.01m / 977,000) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (831,000), Hot Seat (653,000). The Footy Show was 319,000 in 2 cities, Top Gear was 257,000 in 2 cities, Blinging Up Baby was 175,000 in 3 cities and Life on the Dole was 156,000 in 3 cities.

MasterChef Australia easily won its timeslot with 1.01m for TEN. The Project was 598,000 / 449,000, Law and Order: SVU was 569,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 559,000 and a repeat of CSI Cyber was 283,000.

ABC News (732,000) led for ABC then 7:30 (635,000), The Checkout (568,000), Between a Rock and a Hard Place (498,000), Q & A (355,000), Antiques Roadshow (341,000) and Dirty Laundry Live (215,000).

Heston’s Mission Impossible scored 200,000 on SBS ONE followed by Luke Nguyen’s United Kingdom (192,000), Shane Delia’s Spice Journey (163,000), SBS World News (139,000). Dig was 111,000.

Big Bang was best on multichannels with 308,000.
